How do we put all this into practice? It is daunting.
At the first level, focus on two principles: Learning to look and making safety.
For learning to look, be vigilant of silence/violence (on both sides) and adjust accordingly. Practice the phrase “I think we’ve moved away from dialogue”.
For safety, try anything. The skills in the book are examples, but they are not comprehensive. About 90% of the time, a sincere effort at making it safe will have some pay off.
Once you think you are in tune with these principles and can detect, then perhaps focus on practicing the individual skills.
